Great Mongeham Horticultural Society Wednesday, 2nd July at 7.30 pm - Talk on Dahlias. The Rose and Sweet Pea Show will be held as part of the Fun Afternoon on Saturday, 5th July.
St. Martin’s W.I. Thursday, 10th July at 7.30 pm Beverly Weeks will demonstrate Porcelain painting—the competition is a ‘Favourite piece of china’. Visitors and new members are welcome to join the meeting. Saturday morning, 19th July from 8.30 am members will be selling craft items, books, cakes and plants at the Undercroft, Deal. PSB
Village Design Statement Group Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 10th July at 7.30 pm in the Upper Room, St. Martin’s Church, Great Mongeham. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Great Mongeham Society Thursday, 17th July meet at the Parish Hall at 7 pm—Jim Rees will lead a walk along the footpaths around the village telling a little of the history of Great Mongeham in Mediaeval times. The walk will be at a gentle pace with several stops, and should take between one and two hours. We will end up at the Three Horseshoes, by which time we will no doubt have worked up quite a thirst. New members always most welcome.
Parish Hall Annual General Meeting to be held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday, 30th July at 8pm. All welcome, drinks and nibbles will be served after the closure of the meeting.
Bingo Thursday, 24th July, at 7.15 pm, “eyes down” at 7.30 pm.

CLUB, SOCIETY AND VILLAGE REPORTS Great Mongeham Horticultural Society The Potato Competition proved as popular as ever with 71 entries at the meeting last month. The heaviest weight from one potato in a 10 litre pot, was recorded by Brian Knight with 3lb 8ozs. The committee cooked sausages and burgers on the barbecue which was supplied by Peter Hambrook. DK
Great Mongeham Society Fourteen members were given an informative and entertaining conducted tour of the South Foreland Lighthouse on Thursday, 19th June. A picnic followed the visit, during which Vice Chairman Dr. Steve Chappell gave a vote of thanks, on behalf of members. Entertainment by Mike Blee and Brian Knight was greatly appreciated. DK
St. Martin’s W.I. Tsyoko Page demonstrated eight Ikebana flower arrangements and these were raffled. Member Prue Bell gave the vote of thanks in Japanese, which thrilled Tsyoko.
We say Goodbye to Mrs. Bridget Mabbutt who is moving from Walmer to Lichfield. She has supported Friends of the Church, W.I., Quiz Events and much more in the Parish. Safe journey and enjoy your new home near your family. PSB
Congratulations to Maurice Greener and Roy Humphrey on their excellent craftmanship in renewing the entrance gates to St. Martin’s Church—do take time out to have a look!
