The Chairman reported on another good year with great success at the Kent County Agricultural Show and also well supported Shows in the Hall for which he thanked Carol Whittaker the Show Secretary. The Chairman said that there were several good speakers lined up for 2010 and he reminded members of the Christmas party on the 2nd December (not sure if it is going to be a quiz/bingo/twenty questions evening—just wait and see). Three members of the Committee were standing down, Mick Beer, Steve Pitcher and Dawn Cartwright. They were sincerely thanked for their work on behalf of the Society. Keith

Atkinson was re-elected Chairman and the positions held by new committee members will be announced after their first meeting. The Society does not meet in January. JB Saint Martin’s W.I. There was a variety of materials to choose from and make a Christmas table decoration. Some of the members had never considered making one before but were pleased with the final result. PSB Great Mongeham Society At the A.G.M. held on 19th November, Jim Rees was voted in as Chairman for the next year with the same committee to support him. The meeting was followed by wine, cheese and biscuits. Peter Hambrook gave an interesting, multiple choice quiz, withmuch laughing from the members. It was good to welcome new members including young Jason from St. Edmund’s Road. No Society meeting will be held in December. PSB Autumn Fair held in the Parish Hall on 14th November was a great success in spite of the terrible weather—over £300 was raised for St. Martin’s Church. Many thanks to stall holders and helpers alike and to all those who came along to support the event. I am sure you will agree, it was a good occasion both financially as well as socially. PH Race Night run at Sutton Vale in aid of St. Martin’s Church was also successful with £100 being raised. PH Bus Shelter The Parish Council has been asked about the possibility of providing a bus shelter, or a seat, near the bus stop on Northbourne Road. What can be provided and when will depend on council finances. If you have a view about whether to provide anything, or what to provide, please email our clerk: gmonpc@sky.com Cherry Lane I would like to greet two families who moved to Cherry Lane in the summer and say it has taken me such a long time to do so. Mark and Kate Hayes Watkins with 17 year old Scott and 13 year old Phoebe took up residence at 2 Thorndale Cottage in July. Welcome to you all. Thanks to Mike and Joyce Blee and Deidre Jull for helping me with my Newsletter delivery over the past few months. I was incapacitated having had a new knee joint. DK Kising Gate The Church Boundary wall and Kissing Gate in the North East corner of St. Martin’s church yard is to be repaired hopefully starting on 1st December (weather permitting). After receiving grants from Great Mongeham Parish Council, Grass Roots and Kent County Council Dover North, in respect of it being on a public right of way. Many thanks to these organisations and to all concerned with applying for the grants. Hopefully we shall soon be able to walk along the footpath with the kissing gate back in full working order. PH Jewellery Recycling Collection Thank you to all who kindly contributed - we raised £80 in aid of St. Martin’s Church. The winner of the MP3 player was Jackie Thomson.
